This project involved the complete overhaul of a hotel lobby. This hotel was to be more of a boutique hotel rather than a standard chain. The kitchen, stairwell and front entry were static. The rest of the space was configurable and needed to include the following features:

  • Registration and concierge desk(s)
  • Gift/sundry shop
  • Lobby seating area (should sit 10-15 people)
  • Elevator lobby
  • Coffee shop or restaurant
  • Bar
  • Manager's Office
  • Storage
  • Janitor's closet
  • Restrooms

While the rest of the class addressed this project as plans, drawings and design boards, Prof. Holbrook asked that I create a computer based presentation. He had seen the first few pages I had created for this portfolio and found the concept intriguing, not only as a way to present a portfolio of work, but also as a way to sell a design idea.

In addition to the computer presentation, I felt that something substantial would be appreciated, so I put together one design board showing an overall feel of the space rather than specifics. Below and at left are links to the original presentation, a larger image of the presentation board, and the two plans I drafted in Paint Shop Pro 7: a dimensioned floor plan and a reflected ceiling plan (these are rather large images).
